SCAVMA Scamper is an annual Run / Walk open to everyone. One of the unique features of our race is that we encourage runners to bring and race with their dogs. The proceeds go to the ISU Veterinary College's Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association to support student involvement and raise community awareness about the OneHealth mission which ties together human and animal medicine. The OneHealth mission has recently focused on obesity awareness and prevention in both companion animals and their owners. A healthy diet and regular exercise have incredible benefits for pets and owners alike! This year we are partnering with Live Healthy Iowa and their Strut Your Pup Challenge to encourage Iowans to keep their pets healthy too! More info about the Live Healthy Challenge can be found at: www.livehealthyiowa.org or by contacting: info@livehealthyiowa.

What's better than running with your dog? Running with your dog to raise money to support children in the hospital! This year, SCAVMA Scamper is teaming up with the Josh and Friends, a charity organization started by Dr. Randall Lange, D.V.M. to provide children in the hospital with a "Josh" plush puppy toy and a children's book. I'll Be O.K. details Josh's visit to the veterinarian for a surgery and is designed to educate children about the hospital, and ensure them that they too will be O.K. The plush "Josh" puppy is specifically designed to comfort them and serves as a security item that will accompany them throughout their stay in the hospital. You can include your donation on the online registration form. Please visit the Josh and Friends website at http://www.joshandfriends.com/index.php to learn more about the Josh Project and read Dr. Lange's story of inspiration for Josh and Friends

Dogs are encouraged and awards will be given to 1-3 place dogs that finish each race. We ask that if you bring your dogs, they are friendly to both people and other dogs. All dogs need Proof of Vaccination (please bring the certificate not tags to packet pickup). Dogs must be kept on leash at all times.
