Grab your sneakers, and get moving to help ignite the FLAME of HOPE for those living with seizures by participating in the New Bremen Flame Walk for Epilepsy 5K. The 5K will take place on Saturday, May 18th, starting at the New Bremen Bicycle Museum. Walkers and runners alike are invited to participate.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Western Ohio (EFWO) in conjunction with Olivers Angels, a group of local New Bremen citizens have partnered to put on the Inaugural Flame Walk for Epilepsy 5K. The partnership was formed to help a sweet little boy and his family, generate the funds needed for a service dog. There will be a family friendly Flame Celebration after the 5K, complete with activities for the children, food from village vendors and live music provided by four local bands- Live Wire, Grounded Till Friday, Cracker Jax, and Chatterbox.
The
course will take you on a flat scenic toe-path, finishing along the Miami Erie
Canal at the Crown Pavilion. The race will be timed by Speedy Feet and an event T-shirt is included with your registration.
Coming from I-75 N Take exit 93 for OH-29toward St. Marys/Sidney. Continue to follow
OH-29 W/State Route 29 W for 10.9 miles then turn left onto OH-274 W/OH-29 W/State Route 29 W. Continue on OH-274 W and the park will be on the left, look for our signs.
Coming from I-75 S Take exit 102 for OH-274 toward New Bremen/Jackson Center turn right onto OH-274 W and the park will be on the left, look for our signs.
Plenty of parking is located across from the Crown Pavilion, behind the businesses on Monroe Street and behind the library on Washington Street.
The mission of the Epilepsy Foundation is to lead the fight to stop
seizures, find a cure, and overcome challenges created by epilepsy in the eleven county service of: Auglaize,
Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and
Shelby. The Flame Walk for Epilepsy is
an event to celebrate those living with seizures and the family members that
support them. This day also provides an opportunity to raise awareness for the 1 in 26 people that will be diagnosed with
epilepsy in their lifetime and to honor the memory of all who have passed
due to the complications of epilepsy, but whose Spirit remains in our hearts!
