The Girls on the Run 5k is the culmination of Girls on the Run's 10-week season. More than 725 girls in grades 3-8 will celebrate their "girl power" by running 3.1 miles with their coaches, families, friends, teachers and community members. This event is open to anyone who wants to run, walk, or skip to the finish line!

The Girls on the Run 5k series, with more than 200 events across the United States, is the largest youth focused 5k series in the world. It is a non-competitive, celebration 5k, and times will not be recorded nor will results be posted. All finishers will receive a medal. Everyone who crosses the finish line is a winner!

From Cleveland

Take I-77 South to Main St/Broadway, Exit 22A. Turn left on Broadway. Turn left on State St. Turn right on S Main St. Lock 3 is on the left.

From Youngstown, Kent and other points east

I-76 West to Main St/Broadway, Exit 22A. Exit right on to Broadway. Turn left on State St. Turn right on S Main St. Lock 3 is on the left.

From Canton and points south

I-77 North to Main St/Broadway, Exit 22A. Exit right onto Broadway. Turn left on State St. Turn right on S Main St. Lock 3 is on the left.

From Stow/Hudson via Route 8 South

Exit at Perkins Street. Turn right on Perkins. Follow to Main Street and turn left. Lock 3 is three and a half blocks ahead on the right.

From Medina and other points west

Take I-77 South to Main St/Broadway, Exit 22A. Turn left on Broadway. Turn left on State St. Turn right on S Main St. Lock 3 is on the left

Parking

Lock 3, located in the middle of downtown Akron, is surrounded by several parking decks and a surface lot. The decks include the Summit County Parking Deck on High Street, the O'Neils Parking Deck on State Street and the Cascade Parking Facility off of Mill Street. Surface lots are located on W. Bowery Street west of Main Street. FREE Parking is available weekdays after 6pm, weekends and holidays in all city-owned decks and lots throughout downtown. For your convenience, you can take the elevator from the State Street parking deck directly to the Lock 3 level.

Event Schedule:

8:00am - Gates open 
8:00am - Bib Pick-up & Day of Registration opens
8:15am - Tiara, Hair Decorating, and other fun activities opens 
9:15am - Opening ceremony 
9:30am 5K event starts! 

All runners receive a medal.  Participants must register by April 19 to receive a race t-shirt. GOTR of Greater Summit registers All GOTR program participants.  Girls on the Run participants meet their coaches on the morning of the 5k at their team signs to receive bib numbers.
