Bernards PEC Run to Read ~ Results

The Bernards Parents for Exceptional Children (PEC) is hosting a 5K Run to Read Run/Walk on Sunday, June 9th, 2013 at Harry Dunham Park in Basking Ridge, NJ.   Registration begins at 8:15 am with race time at 9:30.  The cost is $25 for those who register by May 30th and $30 the day of the event.  Race proceeds will be donated to the Bernards Township Board of Education and used to purchase Lexia Reading Program licenses.  Lexia is a computer-based interactive phonics program, currently used successfully by over 400 students in grades K-8. Additional licenses are needed to give a greater number of students the opportunity to use this influential program.

The Run to Read event is sure to be fun for the entire family, with t-shirts for pre-registered participants, door prize giveaways, refreshments and fun activities for children.  The course is USATF certified with points awarded, trophies and medals for top scoring individuals in multiple age categories, and scoring by Best Racing Systems.  A raffle for an IPad mini is also underway by the PEC and the drawing will be held the day of the race. 

Bernards PEC is a not-for-profit organization that advocates for children with learning and developmental disabilities and their families, and provides recreational, educational, mentoring and community service programs in Bernards Township. The PEC strives to create an environment of understanding and acceptance for persons with disabilities within the community.
