Description

Join us for our annual Seize the Moment 5K Fun Run/Walk to spread awareness as part of National Epilepsy Awareness month in November. Runners, families, strollers and dogs are all welcome! This year there is a course fit for everyone: a 3.1 mile run, a 3.1 mile walk, a 1-mile fun course, and introducing a 3.1 mile scenic TRAIL course! With your help, we can improve the lives of more than 130,000 children and adults in Central and South Texas and ensure that not another is moment lost to seizures.
Course Info

Runners enjoy a breathtaking 3.1 mile competitive chip timed run through San Antonio's 2nd Natural Park, Eisenhower Park.

Walkers enjoy a leisurely stroll while taking in the beautiful scenic views of San Antonio! You can chose from the 3.1 mile paved or trail route or take the shortcut 1 mile route.
Other Info
Event proceeds benefit the Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas, the only non-profit organization solely dedicated to providing epilepsy services to the more than 130,000 people in Central and South Texas who have been diagnosed. Events fund programs and services including indigent seizure clinics; social case management; information & referral; outreach & support services; individual, community, and professional education; employment preparation services; and summer youth opportunities.

Why we need your help:

-Every 4 minutes someone is diagnosed with Epilepsy, affecting over 3 million Americans of all ages more than multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and Parkinsons disease combined!

-In 70% of the cases epilepsy has no identifiable cause and 30%-40% of people with epilepsy are severely affected and continue to have seizures despite treatment.

-When compared to fatalities from Breast Cancer, about 10,000 more people will pass away this year from seizures and related causes.

Your support will help us improve the lives of people with epilepsy, and most importantly will help individuals to not define their lives by their diagnosis; but to lead active, productive lives by ensuring that Not Another Moment is Lost to Seizures.
