Hattiesburg Clinic is pleased to announce
the third annual Rise & Shine Half-Marathon and 5K will be held at Hattiesburg
Clinic on Saturday, April 5 at 7 a.m.. The
event will benefit The Arc, a non-profit organization devoted to serving
individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In 2013, the run
attracted over 450 participants and raised approximately $15,000 for The
Arc. At this years event, there will be
live entertainment at the start/finish lines, vendors will have merchandise for
sale on-site, and massages will be available to runners after the race. Each participant who finishes the half-marathon
will recieve a medal. Additionally, cash prizes will be given to first, second
and third place winners of the half-marathon.
Heather Hood, an
employee of Hattiesburg Clinic and chair of the event states, The Rise & Shine Half-Marathon
and 5K is a wonderful event with dual benefits. The race itself is an
opportunity for runners to showcase athletic talents, meet personal goals and
check an item off their bucket list. Also, the money we raise for The Arc will
allow growth and opportunity for individuals in our community with disabilities.
Both the half-marathon and 5K will start/finish
at Hattiesburg Clinics main clinic at 415 S. 28th Ave. in
Hattiesburg.
