2014 Stroller Derby:
The inaugural Stroller Derby will be held at the Outdoor Knoxville Adventure Center at Volunteer Landing.
This is going to be the family event of the year, so grab your son, daughter, niece, nephew, pet, or your smallest college buddy and let's take a stroll through beautiful downtown Knoxville.
Participants are strongly encouraged to push a stroller, but all runners are welcome to join the fun.
This will be an untimed event.
Course Info
The route starts at the Outdoor Knoxville Adventure Center and runs along the Tennessee River down Volunteer Landing.
Runners will make a turn at the UT Boathouse and continue through a quick tunnel under Neyland Drive that will join up with the Second Creek Greenway.
A gentle climb away from the waterfront will take runners and walkers on a loop through World's Fair Park.
The 10-acre park provides a fantastic scenic backdrop with its cascading waterfalls, foliage, and of course the Sunsphere.
After making a counter clockwise loop through the park, runners will then head back the same way they came down the Second Creek Greenway towards Volunteer Landing.
The race ends at the Outdoor Knoxville Adventure Center.
The course is 100% paved greenways and sidewalks.
There are no road crossings along the 2.5-mile course; however, there are several pedestrian-friendly railroad crossings that will have to be negotiated.
Jogging strollers are recommended.
Directions
Traveling I-40 East from Nashville
Continue on I-40 into Knoxville. Take James White Parkway exit 388A. Take the Summit Hill Drive exit and turn left. Take the first right to S. Hall of Fame Drive. Follow Hall of Fame Drive straight into Volunteer Landing. Parking is available on site.
Traveling I-40 West from Asheville
Continue on I-40 into Knoxville. Take exit 389 for Hall of Fame Drive. Immediately take James White Parkway exit 388A. Take the Summit Hill Drive exit and turn left. Take the first right to S. Hall of Fame Drive. Follow Hall of Fame Drive straight into Volunteer Landing. Parking is available on site.
