Description

Governors Cup, which caters to families, recreational runners and elite athletes looking for a Fast, Affordable, Scenic and Top-notch event, features a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, and 1M Fun Run in Montana's beautifaul Capital City of Helena. The Governors Cup marathon is a USATF certified Boston Marathon course and is home to the fastest mens and womens times ever posted on Montana soil 2 hours, 20 minutes, 35 seconds by Helenas Jim Hatcher in 1982 and 2:45:59 by Helenas Heather Lieberg in 2013. ENTRIES ARE LIMITED for the marathon and half marathon.

Marathon starts at 6 a.m., half starts at 7 a.m., 10K starts at 8 a.m., 5K starts at 10 a.m., and Fun Run starts at 11 a.m.

Course Info

The marathon starts in the mountain town of Marysville and descends into the Helena valley with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and pasture lands, featuring farms, ranches and Montana's historic Capital City. The course is USATF certified and is a Boston qualifier. With a loss of more than 1,000 feet in elevation and some rolling hills, it also boasts the fastest mens and womens times ever posted on Montana soil. The finish is located in Downtown Helena on the walking mall.

The half marathon starts at the halfway point of the marathon course and follows the same route into Downtown Helena.

The 10K, 5K and Fun Run start in Downtown Helena and pass by several historic sites on the cities streets, including the Capitol Building, Last Chance Gulch, and more. All three races finish on the walking mall.
