Description
Runners, grab your bibs, flannel, and other farm gear to raise money for the Lafayette Food Finders food bank in our 50/50 race! This race is aimed at raising awareness of the agricultural industry while helping out a good cause. Runners will blaze past agriculture facts as they complete the course, learning about different food, farms, and farmers around every turn. Winners of each division will receive prizes as well as for the best farmer costumes.
Why join our cause? According to recent studies, one in six Americans experience hunger or food insecurity (USDA). This combined with the fact that farmers will have to produce and estimated 70% more food by 2050 in order to meet the rising world population demand is alarming (Food and Agricultural Organization). Today, many consumers are disconnected with their food and where it comes from-the farm. We aim to shed light on the agriculture industry by giving participants reliable information on agriculture throughout the race in a fun and interactive way as well as providing packets with educational materials to follow.
