The 2nd annual Hawley Spring Run: All proceeds from this non-profit 5K walk/run benefit a scholarship. This is a timed competitive event with every registrant receiving a raffle ticket. Even the last one over the finish line gets a chance to win from a variety of gift certificates and baskets. Trophies and medals are given out for different age groups. T-shirts for registrants in advance.The scholarship, given to a Wallenpaupack Area High School senior, is in memory of our son, Tyler Paul Whitman, who died by suicide while attending college at the age of 18. The criteria for the scholarship are: acceptance into a 2/4 year college or vo/tech school, financial need, B+ average, and a 250 word essay on suicide prevention and awareness. Last year's inaugural event had 140 registrants.

Course Info

The course is scenic and small town. There are a variety of terrains: road, sidewalk, and trail. the course starts and ends in Bingham Park, Hawley. There are a few small hills and one fairly moderate!
The route will take you over three bridges, along a river (watch for bluebirds!), and up through a cemetery and back.

Directions

Bingham Park is at the corner of Main St. and Route 6/590 in Hawley, Pa. It is directly across the street from Settler's Inn. Registration starts at 11 AM.
