On Saturday, June 21, 2014, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 187 of Wake Forest will present the 2014 5K Freedom Run to celebrate and support our veterans and active-duty military. The theme of this year's race is Honoring Our World War II Veterans.
The proceeds from the 2014 5K Freedom Run will be used to support Military Missions in Action, a North Carolina organization dedicated to assisting veterans with disabilities, members of the Armed Forces and their families, and the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund, which ensures that higher education is a possibility for children whose parents have been killed while serving our country.
The 5K Freedom Run takes competitive and recreational runners and walkers over a USATF certified course (#NC10109NW) beginning and ending at American Legion Post 187 (225 East Holding Avenue) in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
There are prizes for the top finishers and the race will have electronic BibTag timing. Registration is $25 prior to June 7th and $30 thereafter. The race starts at 8:00 am with runner check-in starting at 7:00 am.
