Celebrate this years Olympic Day, Saturday, June 21st, with local athletes and special guests at the 5th Annual Strides 4 STRIDE Run, Walk n Roll 5K & 2.5K Race Event, Sponsored by SEFCU! Featuring a 5k race, a 2.5k community awareness walk, and a 400-meter tot run, this fun event invites runners, walkers, and wheelchair/handcycle participants to join together to promote healthy, active lifestyles for every individual, regardless of disability!
A family-friendly event, additional activities include free chair massages, a bouncy house, and face-painting, temporary tattoos, and balloon making with Sparky the Clown and Goofball.
Strides 4 STRIDE is an official Olympic Day Celebration Event, and local U.S. Paralympic Alpine Team member Kim Seevers will be in attendance to mark the occasion, along with other honored guests. Serving as the Capital Regions local Olympic Day host, STRIDE Adaptive Sports is a U.S. Paralympics Sports Club, a Special Olympics New York provider, an affiliate member of Disabled Sports USA, and one of the leading adaptive sport programs in the Northeastern U.S.
All race proceeds will directly help STRIDE Adaptive Sports provide its 17+ adaptive sports and recreation programs for disabled youth and Wounded Warriors, with thousands of program lessons offered at no cost to participants. STRIDE is a not-for-profit volunteer organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and individuals with disabilities through sports and recreation programs.
Starts at Albanys Jennings Landing Ampitheatre and leads participants down a fast, flat course through the Corning Preserve riverfront, chip timing provided by ARE Event Productions.
