Mark your calendars for February 21, 2015 to join over 2,500 runners to celebrate Mardi Gras Baton Rouge style! Whether you are running the One Mile Fun Run, 10k or 15k the whole family can wind down Carnival Season with the Mardi Gras Mambo.
For the past 16 years, the Baton Rouge Area Sports Foundation has partnered with Club South Runners to produce the Mardi Gras Mambo 10k/15k road race. In 2014, the Mardi Gras Mambo had its largest field ever as 2,450 runners registered for the event. The 17th annual edition of the Mardi Gras Mambo will be ran in downtown Baton Rouge.
Early registration is only $15 for 10k runners and $25 for 15k runners. Registration includes a long sleeve, soft-style cotton shirt, custom Mambo finishers medal, personalized bib number, disposable chip timing, and access to the post-race fete in the North Boulevard Town Square in downtown Baton Rouge.
The 2015 1 Mile Fun Run is sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana. Kick off your family's Mardi Gras Season with their Louisiana 2 Step -- Mambo style! Delicious Mardi Gras foods -- Seafood Gumbo, Jambalaya and KING CAKE! -- make it especially important to keep your kids moving during Carnival Season. The best way to get your kids interested in health is to approach it as a family. Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Louisiana's 2 Step 4 Kids program teaches good nutrition and the importance of exercise. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the following age groups: 5 and under, 6-9, 10-12, and 13-14.Since 1999, the Mardi Gras Mambo has hosted Baton Rouge's best 10k race! That tradition continues on February 21, 2015 with a new 10k course that features the best of downtown Baton Rouge, City Park and the LSU lakes. All 10k race registrants receive a long sleeve, soft-style cotton shirt, finishers medal, personalized bib number, disposable chip timing, and access to the post-race fete in downtown Baton Rouge. While the Mambo has been running the streets of Baton Rouge since 1999, the Mambo 15k kicked off for the first time in 2014. The 15k distance is a great stepping stone and fun change in distance for half marathon trainers. The Mambo 15k will challenge runners with a 9.33 mile course that features the best of downtown Baton Rouge, City Park, the LSU lakes and the Louisiana State Capital. All 15k race registrants receive a long sleeve, soft-style cotton shirt, finishers medal, personalized bib number, disposable chip timing, and access to the indoor post-race fete at the Belle of Baton Rouge Atrium.
