Description

The Petersburg Historic Half Marathon & 5K features is an event that will celebrate the Petersburg, Virginia area and the historic sites.  The course will take runners through the downtown area of Petersburg, the Petersburg National Battlefield, Blandford Cemetery, and Pocahontas Island.  What makes this event interesting and unique?! During the loop through the Petersburg National Battlefield the runners will be treated to a battle reenactment! Actors will be battling each other with muskets firing! A Civil War era battle will come to life! 

Petersburg, Virginia was the site of the filming of the movie Lincoln starring Daniel Day Lewis.  The historical buildings featured in the movie will be the location of our Start & Finish area!

Course Info

The Half Marathon course will capture many of the scenic areas in and around Petersburg.  The highlight of the course will be the loop through the Petersburg National Battlefield where runners will be treated to a Civil War era battle reenactment! The muskets will be firing and the actors will be fighting each other for supremacy of the Battlefield! The Start & Finish will take place in downtown Petersburg which features late 1800s architecture and buildings.
