Description

Half Marathon (USATF-NJ Certified)

The Rock the River Palisades Half Marathon is a challenging but rewarding race. Run along the historic Henry Hudson Drive—one of the nation's first recognized scenic roads—you'll continuously ascend and descend the cliffs. With an elevation change of over 1200 feet, this course may be tough, but the setting makes it more than worth it.

5K (USATF-NJ Certified)

The Rock the River Palisades 5K is another beautiful race, with an elevation change of just over 200 feet up and down. It starts level with the Hudson River and heads about halfway up the cliffs, then back down to Ross Dock.

6K Trail Run & Walk

The Rock the River Palisades 6K Trail Run & Walk is the newest addition to the race. In partnership with the NY-NJ Trail Conference, this component of Rock the River directly supports the preservation of the Palisades Cliffs. Walk, hike, or run the course along the beautiful Long Path up the cliffs, across the ridgeline, then back down to the river.

Course Info

All three races begin on the banks of the Hudson River just north of the George Washington Bridge. The Half Marathon and the 5-K are out and back races that follow the Henry Hudson Drive, one of America's oldest scenic roads. The Trail Run follows the Long Path and Shore Trails after peeling off from Henry Hudson Drive. Trail runners will travel along the top of the Palisades cliffs, before descending to Ross Dock to finish. These are challenging races, but rewarding and beautiful.

Highlights:

All races start and finishes at Ross Dock in Palisades Interstate Park, Fort Lee, NJ.

The beginning of the courses are uphill from the Hudson River up the Palisades on Henry Hudson Drive.

The 5-K and Trail Run are relatively flat in the middle of the course, with ascents and descents at the ends.

The Half marathon is a rolling course with steep climbs and descents throughout.

There are water stops at every mile and Port-A-Johns at mile 6
