Other Info

PaddleFest is the interactive and hands on experience of the year to prepare you and your family for the next on water adventure.  The event draws thousands of newbies and enthusiasts from around the region to learn, share, watch and celebrate what paddling has to offer.  The multiple location venues include a flat-water demo center, on water education, river competitions, multi-sport races, free demos, and several other non-paddling and family oriented events centered on “all ages” participation.

“PaddleFest is proud to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chaffee County and the Buena Vista Optimist Club through the success of PaddleFest 2015. This is a huge annual event for Chaffee County and it takes great collaboration to pull it off.  We have seen a lot of growth in both participation and fundraising having worked with the BGCCC last year.  One of the ongoing struggles is organizing volunteers to support the evolving event.  The Optimist Club will provide seamless and experienced volunteer support in several areas to take the pressure off of other agencies.  We feel this will be a solid and productive long term relationship between these two organizations and the event.” Earl Richmond – Paddle Fest.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Chaffee County provides a safe, positive place for youth to learn and grow, and ongoing supportive relationships with caring adults and lots of fun! While today’s youth face many challenges, Boys & Girls Clubs continue their long tradition of offering proven solutions that work. Clubs provide youth with daily guidance oriented character development programs, and have firmly established a reputation as “The Positive Place for Kids” where kids are encouraged to BE GREAT in a wide variety of ways. Their mission is clear: Build upon this success to reach out and serve more youth. Our community’s future depends on it.

“We are thrilled to be to part of PaddleFest. No single event gets our kids, board members, parents, volunteers and supporters more excited. We are also honored to partner with our good friends, the Optimists this year. It’s like catching the perfect wave! Building a strong sense of community is one of our core beliefs at the Boys & Girls Club and PaddleFest provides the perfect opportunity to bring all of us together on the water to do just that – and have so much fun doing so!” Brian Beaulieu, Executive Director, BGCCC

The Buena Vista Optimist Club is a local arm of Optimist International whose mission is to bring out the best in kids. This is accomplished, in part, by encouraging participation in community service activities, inspiring a respect for law, developing a friendship and understanding towards people throughout the world, and encouraging activities that contribute to a better future for the youth of our nation. More specifically, the local club provides several college scholarships each year and helps fund youth activities in the area schools.

According to club President Roger Ezell, the Optimists are looking forward to partnering with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chaffee County.  He noted, “This is a win-win for both of our organizations.  Together, we are in the business of caring for the youth of our community, and we are grateful to CKS PaddleFest for supporting our fundraising efforts.”
