In 2015, the Visser Family YMCA Buck Creek Run will be celebrating it’s 42nd year! As a cornerstone of The City of Grandville’s Fourth of July Celebration, the Buck Creek Run starts and finishes at the Grandville Middle School.
Impact Afterschool Program
The Impact Afterschool Program is an exciting and unique partnership between the YMCA, local school districts (Grandville, Jenison and Hudsonville Public School systems), and corporate and foundation donors, which currently provides after school support to 75 children who have been identified by school officials in each of the school districts.
Every day students come to a safe and engaging environment at the Y and have access to:
– academic support (tutoring and homework assistance)
– a mentoring program delivered by local professional leaders and volunteer
– health and fitness activities (swimming, gym games, sports leagues)
– volunteer opportunities and other enrichment activities
Children are referred to the Y by a teacher, social worker, principal or other school official and are
automatically
enrolled in the nine-month program and are not charged to participate.
Free busing is provided through the school districts in all but one
case. The program is designed for children ages 10 and above.
