The Blue Crab Bolt Trail Running Series is back for round six. To beat the heat, we moved the races from July/Aug to May/June. We also added a 5K option at each venue. This is the perfect distance for those new to trail races or for those that want to burn it up. Similar to our Backyard Burn races, these trail running courses are fun and challenging and include a mixture of winding single-track hiking trails, stream crossings, grassy fields, and minimal pavement. A point system adding competitor's three-race point totals will be used to determine the top finishers within each age group of the series.
This springtime series will undoubtedly be super popular. So, register early to join in the fun and claim your spot on the starting line.

Schaeffer Farms in the newest addition to the series and these courses rock! The trails at Schaeffer Farms are VERY fun and wonderfully maintained and include twisty single-track, open field running, stream crossings, and several steep hills. Mostly known as a mountain biking destination, Schaeffer Farms has tons of semi-technical terrain that trail runners love.

Directions
Use the following directions to pre-run the course leading up to the race.
From Interstate 270:
- Exit 15B Rt. 118 West. Follow for 2.5 miles.
- RIGHT onto Richter Farm Road
- LEFT at 4-way stop sign on Schaeffer Road.
- Stay on Schaeffer Road and continue going straight after the traffic circle.
- The Schaeffer Trail System parking lot entrance is on your left about 1/2 mile from the traffic circle.
Button Farm Living History Center (Staging Area - RACE DAY ONLY)

Use the following directions for the staging area on race day ONLY. Please repect the privacy of the landowners of this privately managed farm and do not visit this site before race weekend.
From Interstate 270:
- Exit 15B Rt. 118 West. Follow for 2.5 miles.
- RIGHT onto Richter Farm Road
- LEFT at 4-way stop sign on Schaeffer Road.
- Stay on Schaeffer Road and continue going straight after the traffic circle.
- After .1 mile take a left onto Burdette Lane and travel .4 mile to the stop sign.
- Take a right onto Black Rock Road and travel .9 mile to the Button Farm Living History Center on your right.
- Take a right onto the driveway and follow the signs to the huge fields behind the farmhouse. This is a working farm with roaming animals, especially around the farmhouse. So, please drive SLOWLY at all times on the farm.
- For those with high profile vehicles, please pay special attention to the low branches of the trees around the farmhouse. Just follow the arrows and you will avoid these hazards.
