2015 Easter 5K Trail Run & Ruck Race:

There’s nothing quite like the outdoors. With your shoes tied tight, a backpack on (maybe), and tunes on your MP3 player, you’ve got nowhere to go but up. And that’s just what you’re going to do here at the 2015 Easter Trail Run & Ruck Race. Always on Easter Saturday, this is the perfect outing for the family, including all those relatives who are here for the holiday!  Bring everyone out to help us support our returning heroes!

This year's race is April 4th at Lear Park in Longview, Tx. near Soccer Field #10.   Runner check-in starts at 7:00 and the races will start at 8:00.

Proceeds from this event benefit the East Texas Chapter of Heroes on the Water, an international organization dedicated to the thousands of military veterans 

A unique event in east Texas, this race consists of both a 5k trail run and a 5k ruck race.  The ruck race is run on the same trail as the standard 5k, but done while carrying a 30 lb. backpack!  (Yes, we do weigh each backpack before the race!)

Cost is $20 if you register by Feb 28, $25 from Mar 1 to Apr 3, and $30 on race day.

This year, just to add to the challenge, we are adding several (optional) Fitness Challenges along the course!  They could be push-ups, sit-ups, burpees, mountain climbers, or something you've never even imagined!  Yes, they are optional, but successful completion of each will earn runners and ruck racers bonus entries into the Grand Prize drawing after the race!

 The trail itself is AWESOME!  No streets with traffic, no concrete to hammer your knees, this trail is through the woods, around the pond, and over the grass in a beautiful and peaceful setting.  Last year we heard numerous comments that this was the BEST 5K COURSE IN LONGVIEW!!  (It can even handle strollers if they have the larger off-road tires.  The small-wheeled strollers don't do well, though.)
