Every year around October I gain a pound here and there. I can’t really put my finger on it, my diet doesn’t really change that much (maybe that occasional Bavarian style beverage). It seems my German genes go haywire due to Oktoberfest withdrawal symptoms. This hormonal turmoil causes my body to plumb up.
The Oktober Lauf Fest will help offset the hormonal imbalance by providing an atmosphere that makes you feel like you running in the suburbs of Munich. Ok, I admit maybe that’s a stretch, but at least by running 13.1 first, you might be able to enjoy that Bavarian style beverage guilt free later.
This race is completely run off public roads on a bike trail at Pennypack Park in Philadelphia. Gorgeous course along the Pennypack creek. 100% traffic free, matter of fact, you might not even see a single house or car while running in the woods. You will be supported by 7 aid stations , including the Oktoberfest aid station powered by Heidi, the Bavarian waitress. Thekla Grund – former owner of the Old Brauhaus & Linda Weiss, will take care of you post race. To give everyone an equal shot at our unique awards, we will once again have the widest starting line in PA which will allow almost every runner to line up in the first row. If you are too slow to win an age group award, dress up. We will reward the best/funniest outfits (must have some kind of relation to Oktoberfest). Everyone loved the cuckoo egg hunt during the sloppy cuckoo trail half, therefore we will once again hide some cuckoo eggs along the course. Return a egg to the RD to win a cool prize.
