Every year, the members of Zeta Tau
Alpha at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill hold the
Franklin 5K to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness. It
is the sorority's biggest philanthropy event of the year. The race
benefits Relay for Life of UNC, the Arc of the Triangle, the UNC
Lineberger Cancer Center, Ashton's Angels, and the ZTA Foundation.
In the past, we have consistently raised over $60,000 with this race
and we are hoping to increase this amount each consecutive year. We had
over 1,000 people participate in the race last year and sold over 2,500
t-shirts to family and friend within and without the UNC community. The
course takes runners around the Chapel Hill campus and surrounding
neighborhoods. Prizes are awarded to the top runners in each age group
at the after race party, which is accompanied by free food and local
talent.
