Established in October, 2009 by loving friends, Race 4 an Angel honors the remarkable strength, courage, love and kindness of Raelyn Reny. With graceful fortitude, Raelyn touched more souls in her 32 years than most could ever aspire to do. Raelyn was a cancer survivor many times over, and was deeply grateful for the care she received and friendships she formed with the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.
Raelyn Williams Reny, grew up and resided in South Portland Maine. She was a wife, a mom, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a god-mother, a cousin, and a friend. She was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma when she was 15, and received chemotherapy and other treatments, two bone marrow transplants and two hip replacements. She was a 17-year survivor of cancer, and was in remission for six years. Raelyn passed away in July, 2009.
Raelyn inspired all who knew her with her courage and warmed the hearts of all she knew with a hug and a smile. She was widely known for her work with children and for her commitment and loyalty to her family. She is survived by her husband, and a son, as well as a large extended family.
