Mayor Samson D. Steinman and the City of Rahway are proud to announce New Jersey’s First Firefly Run (www.fireflyrun.com/), an illuminated 5K race, to take place at dusk in Downtown Rahway on May 21, 2015.  Proceeds from the event will benefit The Valerie Fund (www.thevaleriefund.org/).

The Firefly Run will begin at Rahway City Hall, 1 City Hall Plaza. Registration is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 PM with the Official Race starting at 7:30 PM. The registration fees vary based on how early you register (Prices range from $25 to $55). All registrants will receive a premium t-shirt, 2 Firefly Run 3M Reflective LED light bands, a race bib, and a mystery gift. A costume contest and post-race celebration will follow the race at 9 PM with music, lights, lasers, costume contest and dancing.

The Firefly Run is one-of-a-kind night-time race open to runners and walkers of all speeds and experience. Costume contest participation is encouraged.

About The Valerie Fund: The Valerie Fund is a not-for-profit organization established in 1976 in memory of nine-year-old Valerie Goldstein by her parents, Ed and Sue. The Valerie Fund’s mission is to provide support for the comprehensive health care of children with cancer and blood disorders. Families turn to The Valerie Fund because of the unique combination of medical care, counseling, and other services it provides. The Valerie Fund Children’s Centers comprise the largest network of healthcare facilities for children with cancer and blood disorders in New Jersey, and one of the largest in the nation.
