Bluegrass Community Action's First Annual Outrunning Poverty 5k

• Outrunning Poverty 5K Run:- Run 3.1 Miles

Bluegrass Community Action is holding their First Annual Outrunning Poverty 5k on September 26, 2015. The race begins at 9:00 am and registration at the door begins at 8:00 am. Registration fee is $15 before June 30th or $20 at the door. The race will be held on Main Street in Stanford, Kentucky and registration will be at the Bluegrass Community Action office located in the Buzz Walker building, 201 East Main Street Stanford, Kentucky 40484.

We will have several vendors on the day of the race, including both food and merchandise/craft vendors. Register early to take advantage of the discount and cut your wait time. Feel free to come solo or bring the whole family! We look forward to having a really great time and hope to see you there! 

If you are coming from:

Somerset: Follow US-27 North approximately 31 miles, turn left onto E. Main St./KY-78. 201 East Main Street will be on the left. 

Nicholasville: Follow US-27 South approximately 27 miles, turn right onto E. Main St./KY-78. 201 East Main Street is on the left. 

Lexington: From the South Broadway area, follow US-27 South approximately 43.5  miles, turn right onto E. Main St./KY-78. 201 East Main Street is on the left. 

Richmond: Follow Lancaster Ave./KY-52 for 6.3 miles, turn slight right onto Moran Mill Rd. for 3.4 miles, Moran Mill turns into KY-1295 for 8.1 miles, turn right onto Richmond Rd./KY-52 for 3.3 miles, turn left onto Stanford St./US-27/US KY-39 for 7.8 miles, turn right onto East Main Street/KY-78 for .4 mile, 201 East Main Street is on the left. 

Danville: Start out going east on W Main St/US-150 Bus E/US-127 Bus S/KY-52/KY-34 toward S 3rd St/US-127 Bus N. Continue to follow W Main St/US-150 Bus E/KY-52/KY-34 for .4 mile, Turn right onto Stanford Ave/US-150 Bus E/KY-52. Continue to follow US-150 Bus E. for 2.6 miles, Turn slight left onto Stanford Rd. for 2 miles, Stay straight to go onto US Highway 150 W/US-150 E. Continue to follow US Highway 150 W. for 4.4 miles, Turn right onto Danville Ave. for 1.3 miles, Danville Ave. becomes W Main St/KY-78 for .4 mile and 201 East Main Street is on the right.

Bluegrass Community Action offers a variety of programs to enhance the quality of life for our participants. By helping out with basic needs like food and clothing, we can help people move out of poverty and into self sufficiency. We offer utility, rental and educational assistance for those in need, facilitate help with eye glasses, prescription assistance enrollment via KPAP (Kentucky Prescription Assistance Program), offer a commodities program for senior citizens throughout the community and Kynect.

This is our first year holding this annual event and we look for it to be a great success!
