5k For Everyday Champions

The 5k Run of Everday Champions is a principal fundraiser for Northwest Compass, and derives its name from the definition of a Champion, a person who takes individual responsibility for enacting successful, positive change in a community.  They are supportive and enthusiastic about postitive change and are actively invovled in bringing it about.  Champions advocate and promote acceptance of postitive change and motivate others to do the same.  The Champions of Northwest Compass are driven  by their passion to have a social impact.  The community surrounding Northwest Compass breeds "Champions"- those who give their support, time,expertise, moneey and service to t hose residents of the northwest suburbs who are in crisis and have nowhere to turn. These "Champions" turn a person's crisis into an opportunity. 

To celebrate this theme, Northwest Compass invites "champions" of all types and athletic ability to participate in the 5k Run of Everyday Champions, consisting of a 5k as well as a Kids' Dash.  The run will take place August 29th in Lions Memorial Park and the surronding neighborhooods.  The "Champion" theme will be evident everywhere on site- from the palpable energy of runner's endorphins to the "Champion" themed art on the event t-shirt. This event will crackle with positive energy of "Champions!".  Runners will be rewarded at teh finish line with a variety of refreshments and a joy-filled awards ceremony.
