Joey Fabus Superhero Run Over DIPG

• Joey Fabus Childhood Cancer Foundation Inaugural Superhero Run:- Run 3.1 Miles

Joey Fabus was an 8 year old boy when he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in May 2014. His cancer was DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) and the current survival rate is 0%. Most children afflicted with this disease die within 9-12 months of diagnosis. On January 21, 2015 surrounded by his loving family, Joey died from DIPG. Current treatment options have not been successful. More research and funding are desperately needed.

The Joey Fabus Childhood Cancer Foundation (JFCCF) began in honor of Joey Fabus to let the world know what an amazing boy he was, to raise awareness, and to raise funds to be donated to successful DIPG research facilities throughout the world in hope that a cure will be found for this awful disease.

Please join us for a great morning of strength and inspiration as we come together to fight the monster that is DIPG. We encourage you to wear a superhero shirt, mask, cape etc. Joey loved Captain America among other superheroes, but everyone that knew Joey realizes that he was the closest thing to a real superhero any of us has ever known.

The race will begin and end at Bethel Park High School. A route has been mapped out and it includes some of the streets located behind the school.

The foundation has secured Elite Runners to manage the race and verify the course. Once that is approved we will post it for all to see.

Awards

Age group awards will be given out:

• Top 3 male and female in each age group as follows:
  • Children 10 & Under, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
• Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 overall finishers for both male, and female winners, as well as Masters winners.
