Sepsis affects 750,000-1,000,000 people a year and is the #3 killer in the US with 258,000 deaths/year.  Sepsis kills more people in the US than breast cancer, prostate cancer and AIDs combined   Despite these alarming numbers, only 44% of the adult population have heard of sepsis and even less have a real understanding of sepsis and septic shock. 

My wife, Sue, survived septic shock in August 2014, but the illness left her a bilateral below-the-elbow and bilateral below-the-knee amputee.  Early identification and treatment of sepsis is critical to a patient's survival as the mortality rate of sepsis patients increases 8% every hour it is undiagnosed.

The Sue Stull Sepsis 5K is our first fundraising event to increase sepsis awareness and raise funds to establish the Sue Stull Sepsis Foundation with the ultimate goal to assist septic shock survivors.
