Help us start a new tradition with the Inaugural Making A Joint Effort 5K and Ortho Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, Jan. 9 2016 at Kiwanis Park. The event has a distance for everyone, including a 5K Run/Walk, Family 1 Mile, and 100 Yard Kids' Dash, so bring out your family and friends!
Proceeds from the Ortho Fun Run benefit the Orthopedics department at Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers. Each facility offers a wide range of orthopedic services to address conditions associated with the musculoskeletal system-muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones and joints-which maintains our body's form and allows us to move. We help everyone from adolescents to seniors dealing with orthopedic conditions.
The Total Joint Replacement program seeks to provide needed upgrades to equipment and furnishings that will assist in growing the premier Orthopedics department which is unique in utilizing a wellness model to promote the healing process.
Additionally, Dignity Health in the East Valley has teamed up with Gilbert Public Schools and OrthoArizona Mezona Orthopedics to develop an advanced collegiate-level Sports Medicine program within the five Gilbert high schools. The program was created to decrease sports-related injuries and deliver high quality sports medicine services to Gilbert’s student athletes. The program includes three full-time athletic trainers that provide sports injury care, athletic training services, and promote education through sports medicine curriculum that includes injury prevention lectures/assemblies for students, parents and coaches.
