Description

Training for a half or full marathon is a challenging and rewarding endeavor. To succeed, you need coaches, teammates and a proven game strategy. The Fleet Feet Sports Half and Full Marathon Training Program is here to help you cross the finish line in 2016 Half and Full Marathon Training is Sponsored by adidas. We offer 4 different versions of the training program to meet you training needs. Beginner and Advanced Half Marathon Training, and Beginner and Advanced Full Marathon Training.
Whether you're a first-timer looking to cross the finish line or a veteran hoping to run a personal best, our 14 week program is designed to prepare you for any local summer or destination Half or Full Marathon. The Fleet Feet Sports team features expert coaching, experienced pacers and mentors, coached long runs and workouts and dedicated long run course support. In addition, our training offers information clinics on fueling for long runs, hydration, gear, injury prevention, proper stretching techniques and more to answer all of your training and racing questions.
The program is very flexible, in that you can alter it towards your busy lifestyle. It's transportable, such that you do not need to be in Buffalo to follow the program. The program is safe and easy to follow. All you need is a desire to do the distance and the commitment to do the workouts!
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to run a 13:00 minute pace per mile or faster and meet the required base mileages before entry into the programs listed below.

To best help you reach your goal, we offer different levels of training based on your current experience:
Beginner Half Marathon for the person who has never run a half marathon and has a lower weekly mileage of about 10-15 miles. Perfect for someone new the the half marathon distance.
Advanced Half Marathon for the person who has completed one or more half's and wants to improve speed and performance and has a slightly higher weekly mileage of about 12-16 miles
Beginner Full Marathon for the person who has never run a full marathon but has already completed a half marathon and has a current weekly mileage of 20-25 miles. Perfect for someone who has never run a marathon.
Advanced Full Marathon for the person who has already completed a marathon but wants to improve speed at performance at the marathon distance and has current weekly mileage of 20-25 miles.

Key Training Dates: Training Starts on Thursday, January at 6:00pm at Fleet Feet Sports

Thursday, January 28th- Kickoff Tempo workout/orientation at Fleet Feet Sports 6:00pm. Here we will do a baseline workout to gauge what pace group you should be in. After, we will review initial info about the program including what to expect, gear, footwear, training habits and more.

Saturday, January 30th, 7:30am - First paced group long run.


Workout Days/Times - There are 2 organized coached workouts each week

6:00pm Thursdays at Fleet Feet Sports

7:30am Saturdays at varying locations in Buffalo.

GOAL RACE(s): Flower City Half Marathon and Buffalo Half or Full Marathon or any spring event of your choosing.

12 different pace groups to choose from for Saturday paced long runs (8:00, 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 13:00 minute per mile)

Program Fee:
$125 for early bird registration (now -Jan. 24th)  
On Sunday, January 24th the fee increases to $135.00
