In April the State of Maine pauses to recognize the need for continued prevention efforts in the arena of child abuse. This is a time for us to recognize that each of us can contribute to promoting the social and emotional well-being of children and families in our community. Whether physical, emotional or sexual child abuse the effects on children are devastating and lasting. This year the Franklin County Children’s Task Force is hosting its fifth annual “Run to Prevent Child Abuse 5K/10K and Kids Fun Run” locally in Farmington. It will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 in downtown Farmington. Funds raised from this event benefit programming that aims to prevent child abuse and neglect before it starts.
All ages are welcome to participate in the 5K/10K, but no pets, skateboards, rollerblades or bicycles are allowed on the course. To keep runners and walkers well hydrated, the course will provide 3 water stations.
