Description

The Brady Heart Foundation 5k and 1 mile run will be held in the perfect cool mornings of July in the beautiful city of Idaho Falls. 5k participants will start in Freeman park and head south on the green belt pathway. Runners will have the pleasure of running right along side the Snake River and will encounter breathtaking views of the river deltas and city while they enjoy the easy path that meanders through town just as the river does. There will be oppertunities to cross the river not once but twice! Runners will be making their way back north on the first river crossing and will end right where they began.  There will be a 75 minute time restraint on the 5k but it gives plenty of time for walkers.

1 Mile participants will enjoy a beautiful and quiet path through and around Freeman park that will give these runners and walkers the oppertunity for unobstructive views of the Snake River and the natural beauty of Idaho Falls. 1 mile runners will start just after the 5k runners and will finish in the same area as they started. The 1 mile will not be a timed event but runners should be finished within 30 minutes of crossing the starting line.

Event details and schedule

SAME DAY REGISTRATION

There will be same day registration. We recommend that you come 90 minutes before start time to ensure that you will be registered into the system and will be issued a bib number.  If you register after July 1,2016 we cannot gaurantee that you will recieve a shirt.  That means if you register on the event day we cannot gaurantee that you will receive an awesome cool t-shirt. But you will still have a great time running with the awesome people that do! No worries though we still think you're super awesome for choosing to spend your Sturday morning with us!

COURSE

Runners for the 5k and 1M will start in Freeman park and run along the marked path per their particular race event. 5k runners will head south on the greenbelt path and 1M runners will run along the path that loops in and around Freeman Park.  We have been given permission to run in the park and on the path however this is a public park and the course will not be closed to the public. It is important that runners be kind and courteous to visitors to the park and those running/walking on the pathways.

There will be 1 water station for those that are participating in the 5k run. It will be placed near mile 1.5.  There will also be water available at the finish line.  It is important that you hydrate before, during and after the race. If you are in need of water while you run you should consider carrying a water bottle or having some device to carry your water like a running belt.  The Brady Heart Foundation is not resposible to provide water beyond the water station and finish line so please be sure to hydrate properly as it will be summer time.

There will be no water stations provided during the 1M course. So please plan accordingly.

STROLLERS

Strollers are welcome on both courses. We ask that those that are running the 5k with a stroller line up toward the back of the pack.

PARKING

Parking will be on a first come fiirst served basis.  There will be no specified or marked parking areas. Since Freeman Park is a public park we are required to obey all traffic laws.

ATTIRE

You can wear whatever you feel is comfortable. We recommend that you wear comfortable and cool active wear designed for running.  Please dress according to the summer weather. Please know that running naked is strictly prohibited. Not only is it not pretty to look at but its inconsioderate and against the law.  If you are found running naked you will be removed from the course.  So please DON'T DO IT!!

DON'T FORGET YOUR SHOES! It happens people. We reccomend that you wear regular running shoes trail shoes are not required. But do what you want it's your feet! If you are a barefoot runner completely disregard this paragraph altogether. But know that the rest of us wonder in awe when you run on rocks.

IPODS

iPods and other devices with earbuds are permitted on the course however we recommend that you keep one ear bud out of one ear for safety purposes.

EVENT SCHEDULE

Bib pick up/check in will be on 7/15/16 Place and time TBD

ID will be required at check in for participants that are 16 and older.  If you cannot be present for packet pickup on 7/15/16 you can send another person to check in for you provided they have a copy or your current ID.

You can check in 1 hour before start time but we recommend that you pick up your packet and check in the night before. This will help with the ease of the event for our volunteers and for you. This will also ensure our runners have a smoother and more pleasant experience. But we understand that sometimes that just doesn't work out for everyone. Don't be discouraged come when you can but don't be late on race day! If you register on the day of the race you MUST check in at 7:00 am or earlier to secure a spot to run in either event.

Check in 7:00 am

Check in closes 7:45 am

5k start 8:00 am

1 mile start 8:10 am

Awards 9:00 am for first male and female to cross the finish line for the 5k

TIMING

The 5k race will be timed but it will not be bib or chipped timed.  The only racers that will get an official time will be the first male and first female runner to cross the finish line. Not having it professionally timed saves us a big expense. That means there are more funds that can go to the women and their families that really need it. It also means we can hold more and better events. Its also more educational information that will be available to those that need it. So we apprieciate your understanding that not everyone will have an official time or place.  If you would like to be timed you are welcome to use your own stop watch, gps device, gps watch or other electronic device.  We will give runners 75 minutes to complete the race before we shut the clock down. That is plenty of time to walk. And walkers are welcome!

The 1M race will not be timed at all. If you would like to see who won the 5k we reccomend you finish by 8:55 am. The clock will be shutdown 75 min after the the start of the 5k. You are also welcome to bring your own timing device on the course for your own personal use.

 SPECIAL NOTICE
