Description

Hunter Williams is a 7 year old, two time double lung transplant recipient. At the age of 1, Hunter was diagnosed with a rare disease, Pulmonary Vein Stenosis (PVS). At the time, his Colorado physicians felt the best plan was to let him peacfeully pass away. Whle reasearching PVS, we discovered Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) was conducting a study on the disease and within a month, we were in Boston and began a plan to save his life. In some cases, some older children can outgrow PVS, but the only effective treatment today is to undergo a Lung Transplant. PVS is a very fatal disease and BCH is working on ways to find a cure.

Hunter immediately had two open heart surgeries, was placed in the PVS study, and shortly after was on the transplant list for new lungs. He was blessed to receive the gift of life at 21 months of age. With his new lungs, he is PVS free.  Due to his chronic rejection worsening, he was then again listed for new lungs in May of 2015. After 5 years and 7 months with his first gift, Hunter received his second gift of life, a second set of beautiful new lungs.

If it were not for both of his donor families making that critical decision to donate their loved one's organs, our Hunter would not be with us today. If you do just one thing, please go to Donatelife.net and register to be an organ donor.

Organ Donation gave our older son, Logan, his brother back. Hunter is such a gift to our family and we cherish and know every single day is a gift. First and foremost through this journey we thank GOD, and both of Hunter's donors, and the donor familes. We pray for them on a daily basis.

If you are unable to join us on Hunter's Run, Please support me running the Boston Marathon and support the the NUMBER 1 Pediatric Hospital in the WORLD!
