2016 UNDEAD 5K - An apocalyptic 5K Run/WALK
Welcome to the Undead 5K: The Zombie Apocalypse. A 5K run/walk like no other. A 5K Run/Walk for runners, families and Zombies. There will be Zombies on the course! No worries, all the Zombies want to do is eat your brains and feast on your flesh. The course will challenge you with choices that may affect your survival. Good choices save you time and help avoid Zombies. Bad choices - you're dead. Do you have the wits and fitness to survive?
The object is to survive and cross the finish line with your "health" intact.
Of course this is a 5K run and walk. But you also must survive the Zombie Apocalypse. Finisher medals are given to all participants. The Undead 5K is chip timed with awards given to the top survivors in each age group. You have to be smart, tough, fast - even lucky - to survive the Zombie Apocalypse!
This is not an obstacle or "mud" run. Avoiding Zombies and making correct choices are what this race is all about.
Runners are issued 3 flags, worn on a belt around your waist. The flags represent your "health". As long as you have one flag you are still “alive". There will be "medical" stations on the course where you can get back a flag and so avoid becoming a Zombie.
The object is to cross the finish line - anyway you can - with at least one flag and YOU HAVE SURVIVED!
If the Zombies get your flags, well, you’re dead. You may have a chance to get another flag at one of our health stations or you can finish the race as part of the Undead.
The Undead 5K is a chip timed race and all finishers will get their time for the Zombie Apocalypse.
There will be two finish divisions, those who have survived and who will be eligible for age group awards, and the Zombie Food, who will still get their time.
All registrants receive a T-shirt and Finisher Medal.
Special Entry Fees for families and Teams!
Please feel free to wear a costume of your choice. In deference to our Zombies, whose feelings are very sensitive, please do not wear a Zombie costume.
The Undead 5K will start in waves, with the first wave starting at approximately 4pm, depending on how many entries we receive.
Packet pickup and race registration will be on Race Day at 2pm at Kingswood Park.
