Leo's Legacy 5K ~ Results

• 5k Run:- Run 3.1 Miles

 - Join us for a 5K road race. Then stay after for the 2nd Annual Leo’s Legacy Festival. The race will be professionally chip timed. Tee Shirts for all participants pre-registered by March 24th. Medals presented to the top male and female finishers overall, as well as top 3 finishers in each of 8 age divisions.

 Divisions:        <12,  13-19,  20-29,  30-39,  40-49,  50-59,  60-69, 70+

Leo’s Story   

Leo Vannoni was seven years old and had just started second grade at Bluffton Elementary School when he was diagnosed with leukemia in 2012. Inspiring all who knew him, Leo lost his battle to this disease after a long, strong fight, in February, 2014. 

During Leo’s challenging times, the Bluffton community came together in support of Leo and his family.  The Bluffton fire deparment hosted several BBQ's to raise money as well as fund raisers from Chic-A-Filet and Giuseppi's pizza.  The Bluffton schools showed tremendous support through several fund raisers including laps for Leo, donations during football games and other special events. Leo’s mom, Kelly, is a teacher at H.E. McCracken Middle School and his two older sisters have also been students in the Bluffton schools.  Leo’s Legacy aims to give back to the Bluffton community by hosting its first annual Leo's Legacy Festival April 2nd, 2015.  We will be raising funds for scholarships to Bluffton graduating seniors, establishing sports scholarships for the Bluffton Recreation Center in memory of Leo’s love for sports, and making contributions to MUSC for leukemia research.

This will begin a new Bluffton tradition in Leo’s memory.   It will take place at Oscar Frazier Park from 3-8pm.  The event will include a 5K race, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, jump houses, a cornhole tournament, games, food, drinks and entertainment from local bands (Muddycreek, and The Stepping Stones).  It will be an afternoon to bring families together and to celebrate Leo’s life.
