Sandalwood Community Food Pantry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
Sandalwood Community Food Pantry, which was started 6 years ago in a small apartment in Hilton Head feeding 5 families,  has grown substantially such that we are now helping to feed over 700 families in need.  Rev. Dr. Nannette Pierson, founder and compassionate servant had one desire:  “To serve those who hunger for food, water, and a renewed spirit, because hunger hurts and hunger pains deny dignity, deplete one of all energy and potential and most sadly it erodes the family, the community and its stability, impairing the potential of people to achieve independence.”
We provide food (produce, meat, bread, canned goods) and supplies (toiletries, school supplies and clothes on ad hoc basis) to qualifying individuals and families on Tuesdays and Fridays of every week. Our pantry is located at Queen Chapel A.M.E. Church next to the airport.  We receive our food though multiple sources including: 2nd Helpings, USDA gov't programs, individuals and church food donations. We receive grants and financial donations from individuals which are utilized for our operational costs including lease, equipment and administrative expenses.
We are blessed to have the support of many volunteers --including those who live in the HH area both full and part-time, as well as many who are on vacation.
