The Pistol Ultra 2016

This urban ultra is a great way to start the new year off with a bang. This event first started in 2013 and has quickly become very popular, always filling before the registration closing date. With distances from about 10 to 100 miles, there's something for everyone. Runners score some great swag, enjoy the optional tasty pre-race pasta dinner (with vegetarian option), are pampered by some really nice volunteers, enjoy lots of heated aid station support, warming stations, camaraderie with plenty of other crazy ultra runners, and some really cool finishers awards. This is a great race for first time and seasoned ultra runners alike. Walkers are welcome too. We’re here to have a good time!

Need some good reasons to get off the couch?  How about these?  Run off those extra holiday pounds, try out any fancy new running gear you got for Christmas, try an "easy" ultra before you attempt a big, hairy one on a remote trail, try a longer distance than you’ve done before, an ultra event in January when there are few available, to prove you have an ultra in you, to run with friends, because you can ...

So...burn those holiday calories off by running, walking (or crawling!) multiple loops on approximately 5.5 miles of the lighted, paved Alcoa-Maryville Greenway linear path along Pistol Creek.  Pick your distance.  Options include a 50K, 50 mile, 100K, and 100 miler.  There is also a 2 or 3 person relay option for the 50K distance. The 3 relay legs are only about 10.35 miles long each.

This will be held on the Alcoa-Maryville Greenway, Tennessee (Knoxville’s McGee Tyson airport is just a couple miles from the start.)  The 50K starts at 7:55 AM and the 100K/100 Miler start at 8 AM Saturday morning, January 2, 2016. The 50 Miler starts at 8 PM Saturday evening. All races end 30 hours later (18 hours for the 50 Miler) at 2 PM Sunday. The last official 100 mile finisher wins the coveted Slowest Draw Award!
