All within Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the run will start at Boulder Beach and lead you onto the paved Mountain Loop Trail until you reach the packed-dirt Historic Railroad Trail. Offering a Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K, this run will take you on an epic journey up a mountainous trail. The January desert-temperatures and views of Lake Mead make this run a must-do!
The course is an out and back on the very scenic Lakeshore and Northshore Drives, and is run completely on pavement. Aid stations will be well stocked along the course. (see "Aid Stations"). Note the 10K and 5K are run on the paved River Mountains Loop Trail which runs parallel to Lakeshore Drive.
All races start and finish at the Boulder Beach Special Events Beach, which has ample parking. The course is continual rolling hills with some long (about a mile) gradual ascents and decents ranging from 1-8% in grade. Some shorter rollers may be a bit more steep. Marathon Course
Start Time: 7:00am
Departing the Boulder Beach start line there is a gradual climb of about a 1/4 mile until you turn right onto the River Mountain Loop Trail. The next 3.5 miles are a series of rollers and flat-ish sections. Then a 1 mile long uphill climb that will lead to the 1stturnaround. You'll continue with another 1 mile downhill. Then miles 6.7 to mile 10 are a series of rollers with a slight net gain. At mile 10 continue straight on the River Mountain Loop Trail, running past Boulder Beach. Climb 1.5 mile uphill, going past the entrance of the Park before reaching the 2nd turnaround. Head back for 1.75 miles downhill, taking a right at mile 12.8 back to Boulder Beach. Before reaching the start line, you will see a turnaround to start your 2nd lap. ** This course has a 7 hour cut-off.
Half Marathon Course
Start Time: 7:30am
Departing the Boulder Beach start line there is a gradual climb of about a 1/4 mile until you turn right onto the River Mountain Loop Trail. 5K Course
Start Time: 7:45am
Departing the Boulder Beach start line there is a gradual climb of about a 1/4 mile until you turn right onto the PAVED River Mountains Loop Trail. You will cover rolling terrain for 1.55 miles, turn around and return to Boulder Beach with the last 1/4 mile descending to the finish line for a strong finish.
10K Course

Departing the Boulder Beach start line there is a gradual climb of about a 1/4 mile until you turn right onto the PAVED River Mountains Loop Trail. You will cover rolling terrain for 3.1 miles, turn around and return to Boulder Beach with the last 1/4 mile descending to the finish line for a strong finish.
