Join us for a variety of centennial events all day! A ranger-led paddle trip will depart at 9:00 a.m. on the Neuse River and the group will take-out at the park just before noon for lunch and will then continue downriver to Seven Springs.  A four-mile fun run event will begin at the Visitor Center at 10:00 a.m. and participants can run the four mile as many times as they like and will earn a certificate for doing so.  Local vendors including chainsaw sculpters and other area artists will be on-site.  A hickory-smoked bar-b-que concession will be selling plates and sandwiches for those who would like to eat lunch on the grounds.  Ranger-led longleaf pine interpretive hikes will begin at 10:00 a.m. and again at 1:00 p.m., detailing the history of the longleaf pine in the region and division-led efforts to restore longleaf habitat on both this park and at Sandy Run State Natural Area.  Those who want to paddle the Neuse must pre-register (six canoes available) and those with their own canoes or kayaks are invted to attend also.  Call the park office at (919)778-6234 for more details.

Course Info

Runners will meet and begin/end the race at the Park Visitor Center. The race will begin at 10am but participants are encouraged to arrive early. The course will be a figure 8 loop and include the Lake and Longleaf Trails. Sections of these trails are narrow and do include some hills but offer scenic views of the lake, woods and river.

Directions

Cliffs of the Neuse State Park is located in the southeastern section of Wayne County known as Seven Springs. From Raleigh and/or I-95, take Hwy 70 East to Goldsboro. Follow Hwy 70 East through Goldsboro and turn right onto NC 111 heading south. After crossing the Neuse River, take a left onto Park Entrance Road. From Wilmington, take NC 55 east from I-40. Turn north onto NC 111, and turn right onto Park Entrance Road.
