Description

2016 Honor the Fallen 5K & Memorial Mile:

This event raises awareness of the sacrifice made by Tennessee's Fallen Military Heroes.

Since the attacks of 11 September 2001, approximately 7,000 American service members have been killed in action. Additionally, thousands of non-combat deaths have occurred. Each man or woman we lost has a name. Each served and sacrificed bravely. Each had hopes and dreams for the future. Each still has people who desperately love them.

Through your participation you are not only paying tribute and honoring these brave heroes; your presence gives solace and comfort to the Gold Star Families they left behind. In lieu of numeric race bibs, each participant will wear a memorial bib containing the name of a fallen TN military hero. After completing the event each participant will receive a commemorative dog tag.

Runners, walkers, children and strollers are welcome.

About Medals of Honor

Medals of Honor gives the endurance/race community a tangible way to thank and give back to the families that lost loved ones while serving our Military. Through Medals of Honor racers can compete in honor of a fallen U.S. service member and donate a finisher's medal to the surviving family.

Through our Active Heroes program we fund potential athletes who are also Active Duty Military, Veterans or Surviving family members so that they may compete in endurance sports as a method of healing and growth. Medals of Honor will help cover the cost of: entry fees, coaching, equipment and travel expenses for these American VIPs!

It is our mission to make sure no sacrifice goes unhonored or forgotten.

Medals of Honor is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization ID #47-5273214
