Description

The 7th Annual Founder's Day 5k/1 Mile Benefit Run benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Oklahoma Chapter. It is an excellent event for both the elite and beginner athletes. The 5k event will be chip timed by Race Day Event Services. The 5k early registration price of $20 (includes t-shirt) is valid until May 1. Price will increase to $25 on May 1 and will increase to $30 on race day. After June 10th, there will be no guarantee of t-shirt. The price for the 1 mile run is $15 (T-shirt not included but can be ordered online). Participation medal will be given for 1 mile participants that are pre-registered by June 10. Packet pickup/race day registration will open @ 6:30 a.m. at the Rock Island 905 Railroad Museum which is located at the south end of Fuqua Park (YELLOW BUILDING). Registration will end 30 minutes prior to race start time. The 1-mile fun run starts @ 7:30 a.m. The 5k starts @ 8:00 a.m.
Walkers are welcomed. Walkers will be timed with the runners. No pets allowed on either course. Strollers are allowed on both courses. Those with strollers will be staged at the back of the starting line.

For the 5k there will be awards given for the Overall Male and Female and medals given to the top three finishers in the standard USATF age divisions, including 8-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and older.

Special award will be given to the organization/business that has the most team members for the 5k.

The course is on residential streets and consists of a couple of hills, otherwise fairly flat. The start and finish are near the north entrance of Fuqua Park, 14th and Ash Streets of Duncan, OK.

Directions

Fuqua Park is adjacent to Hwy 81 between Beech and Oak Avenue. The packet pick-up and race day registration will be at the Rock Island 905 Railroad Museum which is the yellow building at the south-end of the park just off Oak Avenue. There is a steam locomotive beside the museum so it is easy to find. NOTE: When traveling southbound on HWY 81, a left-hand turn is not allowed at the traffic signal at Oak Avenue. Use Beech and drive around the park to get to the museum.

Tech shirt will be the shirt that is included with 5k registration if pre-register for the 5k no later than June 10. After June 10, there is no guarantee of an event shirt but if there is a shirt it will be a cotton tee. Volunteers can sign up by using the online registration link and click on the VOLUNTEER tab.
