Join NYRR and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates to celebrate the 12th annual UAE Healthy Kidney 10K. The event offers something for everyone—thrilling performances in Central Park from some of the world's top athletes, a fast course for runners chasing PRs, a great cause to inspire everyone, finisher medals, excellent giveaways, including a technical shirt for every registered entrant, and fantastic raffle prizes.

The course is slightly more than one lap of Central Park’s six-mile loop.

Mile 1: Start on West Drive near 62nd Street and head north; there is a moderate uphill near the end of the first mile.

Mile 2: Continue through a series of rolling hills as you pass the Reservoir.

Mile 3: Pass the 102nd Street Transverse on your right and ascend, then descend Harlem Hill; continue past Lasker Rink.

Mile 4: Climb another hill as you run south on East Drive; pass the 102nd Street Transverse again and climb a small hill. At the 4-mile mark, you'll see the bronze Fred Lebow statue on your right. 

Mile 5: Continue south and pass the Metropolitan Museum of Art on your left and Cleopatra's Needle on your right. Descend Cat Hill (the Still Hunt statue will be on your right) and climb a slight rise right at the 5-mile mark. 

Mile 6: Pass the 72nd Street Transverse and continue around the bottom of the park to the finish at 67th Street on West Drive; this is also the TCS New York City Marathon finish line!

The UAE Healthy Kidney 10K race benefits the National Kidney Foundation in honor of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first president and the founder of the United Arab Emirates. The race was started to promote education and awareness of kidney health and kidney disease. Runners can support the National Kidney Foundation by making adonation during registration or joining Team Kidney. Team Kidney benefits include team clothing, personal fundraising web site and e-newsletters with fundraising and training tips, important race information, and inspiration.

The $30,000 Zayed Bonus, courtesy of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in honor of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, will be given to the first man to break 27:35 (Leonard Patrick Komon, UAE Healthy Kidney 10K, 2011) and/or the first woman to break 30:44 (Lornah Kiplagat, New York Mini 10K, 2002).
