Race Rules and Regulations

All participants in the Caesar Rodney Half Marathon & 5K must read and become familiar with the following race rules and regulations:

  • Entry fees are non-refundable, non-transferable and may not be deferred. Anyone found running with someone else's race number may be eliminated from participating in future American Lung Association in Delaware races.
  • No-shows will be mailed their race shirts only upon written or email request.
  • ½ marathon runners must complete the course in four  hours. For the safety of our runners, this will be strictly enforced.
  • 5K participants must complete the course in one hour. Walkers are welcome in the 5K provided they can complete the course within the time limit.
  • Baby joggers, strollers, roller/in-line skates, and pets (even on leashes) are prohibited.
  • The decisions of the race director are final in all matters.
  • B-tag must be worn properly. Instructions are provided. Please read carefully. We are not responsible for providing timing results for those whose tag is worn incorrectly.
  • Overall winners are based on gun time. All other awards are based on chip time. Chip time is recorded by an electronic chip that is attached to a runner’s bib.
  • Awards may be picked up at the event on race day or at the American Lung Association office located on 630 Churchmans Road, Suite 202, Newark, DE 19702. No mailing.
  • ½ marathon participants must be at least 14 years old.  Anyone under 18 must have parental consent.
  • The registration forms REQUIRE a signature (or agreement online) to be eligible to run.
  • All runners are required to provide an email and a phone number, as well as an emergency contact name and phone number in case of an emergency.

Cancellation Policy:

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable.  You may not roll your entry over to another year or transfer, sell or give it to another person if you are unable to run. This policy applies to all entrants and is in effect whether you are injured, have an unexpected family/business emergency, have a medical emergency, or if the event is cancelled because of weather, natural disaster or other unforeseen circumstances.  There are NO exceptions.
If you do not run or pick up your event shirt, upon request, we will provide you with a letter acknowledging your registration fee as a charitable donation.

Timing:

The Caesar Rodney Half Marathon will be timed by Lin-Mark Sports, Inc. of Mantua, NJ utilizing the Chronotrack Timing System.  The disposable Chronotrack B-tag will be attached to your race bib number and will remain there for the entire event.

Overall winners are based on gun time. All other awards are based on chip time. Chip time is recorded by an electronic chip that is attached to a runner’s bib. Your chip records the time at which you cross the start line, the finish line and several split times in between. Chip time is often shorter than gun time because chip time begins when a runner crosses the start line while gun time starts when the gun is fired; many runners don’t cross the start line until several minutes after their official gun time has begun.

During Race Week, runners (and family/friends) will be able to sign up for Athlete Race Tracking through Chronotrack Live.  Finishers will have their splits/results texted to their mobile device within minutes after crossing a timing station,  For more information about Chronotrack Live, click here.
