Every runner and walker will receive a t-shirt. Kids registered for the 1-Mile Fun Run will receive a free superhero cape, which they are welcome to decorate at the Cape Station prior to their race.

Costume Contest!

You are already a superhero for supporting The Good Samaritan Center -- why not dress like one? Call it "Halloween in May" or an excuse to get your money's worth out of that costume you only wore once last year. Get into the spirit of the event and have more fun running your race!

Runners who participate in a superhero costume are eligible to win coveted prizes in the costume contest. (Note: You do have to register and participate in one of the run/walk events.) Prizes will be announced, but they are sure to be valuable, priceless, cherished ... maybe even to become family heirlooms.

Photo Booth!

Have your photo taken with your favorite superhero! Free photos in front of a green screen, with several fun backgrounds from which to choose. Look for our photo booth near The Elms Hotel. We'll post the finished digital images on The Good Samaritan Center's Facebook page.

Cape Decorating!

Superhero capes will be provided to all the kids who register for the Bunny Run. We'll help them decorate their capes at our Cape Station, so they'll be able to fly through the race. (Parents, please arrive early enough for your children to have plenty of time to decorate their capes before the race.) Tables will be set up with decorating supplies and helpful adult sidekicks in the Blues Garden area.

Fuel & Food

iXL Elite Hydration sports drink and water will be available on the course, at approximately the 2-mile mark, and at the finish line. iXL is great tasting, premium hydration beverage that addresses today's most important health concerns and sports performance needs. iXL is the first ZERO SODIUM/HIGH POTASSIUM choice that addresses the critical sodium/potassium imbalance found in today’s diet. Learn more about this locally-produced sports drink at www.iXLdou.com

Food will also be available for runners at the finish line.

The Good Samaritan Center

www.GoodSamaritanCenter.com

The Good Samaritan Center is dedicated to preventing homelessness and hunger by providing basic life needs and access to life skills. The center serves the needs of people in Excelsior Springs, Kearney, Richmond, Lawson and surrounding area.

Families and individuals are helped with food, shelter, utilities, transportation help, household and medical needs. Caseworkers are also engaged in helping clients find the causes as well as a solution to their distress. The goal is to encourage and to urge participants toward self-awareness. Caseworkers assist with budgeting, cooking and parenting as needed. Referrals to appropriate programs and organizations are an important part of the Center's assistance to people in trouble. The Center acts in the belief that most people achieve their goals if they have someone to believe in them.

The Good Samaritan Center is unique is that each client receives one-on-one attention beyond the emergency assistance help to find out what they need to do to avoid crisis and get on with their lives. Many of our senior clients not only need help with basic necessities, but also need a place to come and talk to someone about what is happening in their lives.

The food pantry is the heart of the Center's emergency assistance program. Persons who are having trouble making ends meet are encouraged to come to the Center for food so their money can be used for housing, utility, and other needs.
