Description

The 2nd annual “Color Gauntlet” Wrestling 5K takes place on a scenic, point-to-point course on the Toonerville Trail along the Black River in Springfield, VT.  This fun “color run,” is a family-friendly untimed 5K run or walk.  Participants will be splattered with colored cornstarch powder along the course.  Once participants have finished the run, the shirts ends up being a one-of-a-kind souvenir! The run starts and finishes at the Toonerville Trail head located on Clinton Street.  Your registration fee includes a “Color Gauntlet” Wrestling 5K t-shirt, sunglasses, and a bag of colored powder.  Post run participants can enjoy food from a local vender as well as music from a local artist.  The fee for the “Color Gauntlet” Wrestling 5K will be $25.00 per person on or before August 1, 2016 and $35.00 thereafter.  Children 10 and under are free but will not receive a souvenir t-shirt, sunglasses, or color powder (these items can be purchased separately on the day of the race).  All proceeds will help fund tournament entrance fees, wrestling gear, and various wrestling equipment for the Springfield VT Wrestling Team, a non-profit organization supporting local youth wrestling for boys and girls.

Event details and schedule

Participants can begin arriving at the trailhead on race day, Saturday, October 1, 2016, beginning at 9:30 AM at the SRDC parking lot located at 290 Clinton Street for pre-registered packet pick-up and same day registration.  The “Color Gauntlet” Wrestling 5K will begin at 11:00 AM and all festivities will conclude at 2:00 PM.  The 3.1 mile trek is relatively flat, paved, and easily accessible by strollers and wheel chairs. Please be sure to leave the dogs at home.  We would recommend watching the weather to help you determine appropriate attire for the color run/walk.  We strongly recommend sneakers and race attire that is comfortable, but keep in mind some staining may occur even though the colored powder is made of cornstarch and food coloring paste.  Post race participants can enjoy local food on-site and music from a local artist.  Please be sure to bring your ID, water bottle, sneakers, family, friends, and your sense of adventure.
