Description

2016 Boise, ID Run for Resilience Ostomy 5k:

The 1st Annual Boise, ID Run for Resilience Ostomy 5k will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016.  All proceeds benefit the United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc (UOAA) charity, a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax deductible. (https://www.ostomy.org/)

Boise mom, Megan Herrett, contacted the United Ostomy Associations of America about bringing this event to Boise, Idaho. Her passion for ostomy awareness was born from a personal connection - both of her young children had their ostomies placed when they were infants. Megan and her husband, Matt, have worked with their children to help them feel comfortable with their difference - after all, their ostomies saved their lives! But they quickly realized that working with their children was only one piece of the puzzle. Megan and Matt are passionate about bringing awareness to the larger community, and ensuring that everyone who has - or who may have - ostomy surgery - knows that there is support available as they discover their resilience and adjust to their "new normal" life.

Join us on Saturday, October 8th for this fun, inspiring, and empowering 5k event!

Event details and schedule:

The 5k race will start and end at the Old Timer's Shelter in Ann Morrison Park. Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the shelter.  This is a flat, fast course along Boise's beautiful Greenbelt.  The course begins at the Old Timer's Shelter, heads west on the Greebelt, crosses the Boise River over the Americana Bridge sidewalk, drops back down onto the Greenbelt heading east, continues past the Julia Davis Park Band Shell, continues straight on the Greenbelt toward the tennis courts, heads left to loop around the tennis courts, crosses Friendship Bridge, takes a right and continues west on the Greenbelt back to the Old Timer's Shelter.

The one mile kids' course is an out and back course beginning at the Old Timer's Shelter.  The course heads west on the Greenbelt, turns around just before the Americana Bridge, and heads back to the Old Timer's Shelter.
