- 2016 James Metz Memorial 5K:
On June 4, 2016 at 10 A.M., the 2nd Annual James Metz Memorial 5K Run/Walk will take place. The start/finish location is at Keysa Park on Vandenberg in Lancaster. This event is for a great cause: To raise money for the renovation of the basketball courts at Keysa Park, Lancaster, in memory of James Metz. James was our cousin who was killed in a plane crash on September 27, 2014 in Lancaster, New York. James was only 14 years old. With our past events, we have raised $123,500. The cost of the project is $206,000. The 5K Run last year was an overwhelming success. We raised over $20,000 with the help of the community and exceeded 500 runners/walkers. On behalf of the extended family of James Metz, we would like to thank you for your continued support with helping to provide kids of all ages the chance to live fully and create strong bonds with the family and friends through the sport of basketball; The mission of the James Metz Memorial Fund.
