Champions for Children 5K Run/Walk...

Our third annual "Champions for Children" 5 K Run/Walk will once again be held at the beautiful South Coast Botanic Garden. The event features a course that is three times a one-mile loop with slight inclines taking you past the Upper Meadow, the Rose Garden, the Cactus Garden, the Rare Fruit Orchard, through the impressive Banyan Grove and back to the finish line.  

The  family-friendly run/walk also features a wonderful Children's Festival filled with activities for children of all ages.  Race registration before July 9th, 2016 includes a t-shirt and goody bag.  Proceeds from this event benefit South Bay Children's Health Center (SBCHC), a nonprofit, 501 (c ) (3) social service agency that provides high-quality dental and mental health services to more than 25,000 under-served children, teens and young adults each year.  

Event details and schedule

7:00-8:20 AM -  Late registration, packet pick-up and warm-up

8:30 AM -         Run/Walk Begins

                      Vendor Booths open, Children's Activities Festival begins

9:45 AM -        Awards Ceremony 

11:00 AM -      Event Close

5K Run/Walk

Ages   5-12   - $25.00 through July 8 - $35.00 July 9 to race day

Ages 13 & up - $35.00 through July 8 - $40.00 July 9 to race day

Finish Line Services Provided By:

Pacific Coast Race Timing, a timing & finish line management company

Awards:

Presented to top three male and female finishers and top three kids.

Parking Information:

Car pooling is highly recommended and parking is free.  On-site parking lot accomodates 250 cars.  Secondary parking lot will be available once that is filled. Please leave all personal belongings out of site and lock car doors. 

T-Shirts & Awards:

Registered runners receive a quality t-shirt and goody bag if registered before July 9.

Awards presented will be three deep M/F in 13 age categories.

Food & Beverage:   

Complimentary food samples and beverages available on event day.

Fun Stuff to Do at the Event:  

Plan to stay for the fabulous finish line festivities including a Children's Festival with activities for kids of all ages.

Packet Pickup:

For registrations received on or before July 8th, participants may pick up their race packets including bib, timing chip, t-shirt and goody bag on:

     Friday, July 15th from Noon-4:00 PM at the SBCHC office

     410 Camino Real, Redondo Beach, CA  90277 from Noon-4:00 PM or

     Saturday, July 16th from 7:00 to 8:20 AM at the race registration table   

Late Registration & Packet Pickup:  

Register & collect your bib and timing chip on race morning at South Coast Botanic Garden from 7:00 - 8:20 AM.  T-shirts and goody bags are not guaranteed for late registrants.
