Description

Register today for the Ditch Witch "La llorona" Run. The ditch banks and North Valley Bosque sets the stage for this ghostly affair and one you won't want to miss! You won't want to run or walk these ditches alone...so bring a friend!


La Llorona ("The Weeping Woman") is a legendary ghost prominent in the folklore of Hispanic America and New Mexico folklore. According to the tradition, La Llorona is the ghost of a woman who lost her children and cries while looking for them by the river and ditchbanks.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS RACE-DAY REGISTRATION; HOWEVER, ALL PRE­REGISTERD PARTICIPANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PICKUP THEIR EVENT PACKETS AT “PACKET PICK-UP.”

 

If you are not able to pick up your packets in person, you must make arrangements for a representative to pick up your packet. Any out of town participants may pickup their packet on race morning at the registration area between 7:30-8:30 a.m.

 

Race Day Registration and Timing Chip Pickup will be located at SINGING ARROW PARK. NOTE: ALL PARTICIPANTS WHO WOULD LIKE TO BE ENTERED IN THE RESULTS AND BE ELIGIBLE FOR AWARDS MUST WEAR A TIMING CHIP (MUST BE ZIP-TIED OR LACED TO SHOE – ZIP TIES PROVIDED IN CHIP ENVELOPE).

 

Parking:

 

Singing Arrow Community Center (West of the Park)

 

Albertson’s Grocery or Smith’s Grocery Store Parking lots (Tramway and Central)

 

 

 

Bathroom Facilities:

 

Bathrooms are located near start/finish—east side of Singing Arrow Park. Please allow plenty of time in order to get to the start on time.

 

Start Information:

 

ALL events start and finish at Singing Arrow Park All races will start promptly at the designated times listed above. Allow plenty of time to get to the Start in order to seed yourself according to your projected pace time. If you are driving to the race plan to arrive early. See parking information above.

 

This race is a Gun Start with a Timing Chip finish. The "official time" will start when the gun/horn goes off.

 

Race (Bib) Number Requirements:

 

Each participant will receive a Race (Bib) number that must be worn on race day. DO NOT alter your race number in any way. Your bib number must be visible and worn on the front outside of all clothing during the entire race so that it may be clearly seen. Bib numbers are non-transferable and MUST be worn by the runner to whom it is assigned.

 

 

 

Medical Support:

 

Medical staff members will be ready to assist you at any time. Radio communications personnel will be positioned at every aid/water station along the course.

 

The event officials have the right to withdraw any runner from the race that appears in distress or at risk. If you have a health or medical problem at the Finish Line, please notify event officials or volunteers. Please cooperate if you are asked to go for a checkup. If you feel that you need help at any point, please ask for it! Note: If you are unable to finish the race for any reason, please notify a race official of your bib number so that the medical personnel are aware. Please do not forget to turn in your timing chip.

 

Finish Information:

 

When you cross the finish line volunteers who will assist you with Timing Chip removal will greet you. Note: ALL CHIPS MUST BE RETURNED AT THE FINISH. The overall and division award winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on race day immediately following each event.

 

If you are unable to stay for the announcement of the awards: age group and overall, you pay pickup your award at House of Bread beginning Wednesday, December 10, 2014. We are not able to mail out awards.

 

10K:

 

Overall prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women determined by gun time. Age group prizes will be given to the top three finishers in the following categories for men and women: 19 and Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. Award times will be determined by gun time.

 

5K:

 

Overall prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women determined by gun time. Age group prizes will be given to the top three finishers in the following categories for men and

 

Women: 1-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. Award times will be determined by gun time.

 

Kids K:

 

All registered participants (12 and Under) are eligible to participate in the Kids K. The start of the Kids K will begin at 9:15 A.M. All Kids K participants will start in the park. The race director will notify all runners as to where to meet prior to heading to the start. This is a non-timed event. T-shirts will be given to all youth entrants as well as finisher awards to all children who complete the Singing Arrow Kids K. Parents may accompany children during the event.

 

Post Race:

 

Post Race refreshments provided by RunFit and House of Bread.

 

 

 

Results:

 

Results will be posted online: www.irunfit.org by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2016.
