The 5k Race for DIPG takes place on a predominantly tree-lined scenic, point-to-point course during late September when morning temperatures are predicted to be in the comfortable mid-70s. This family fun race starts in the center of it all, on the Circle in Miami Springs, where you can find the Clune-Stadnik Building, a Pueblo Revival structure that was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 (built in 1925). This run/walk will head to the downtown area of Westward Drive before turning SW onto North Esplanade, along the canal (watch out for those ducklings!), after which runners/walkers will go past a few of the beautiful homes on Deer Run and then move onto the walking/jogging path that encircles the Miami Springs Golf Course. This path takes you all the way behind The Glenn H. Curtiss Mansion and Gardens, another historic structure in Miami Springs that will be hosting a traveling Smithsonian exhibit on race day. After leaving the Mansion area, the path goes West on Fairway Drive, turns North on Eldron Drive, and then rejoins the walking/jogging path alongside the golf course. Once back at Deer Run, the last stretch will take you down the median of Curtiss Parkway, ending at the Circle where water and light refreshments will be available for all participants.
After the race you are encouraged to stay around and enjoy the Miami Springs Virginia Gardens Optimist BBQ (11am-8pm on the Circle), with live music, a bounce house for the kids, plus delicious food (and beer) to enjoy! All children (ages 6-11) who enter the race will receive a complimentary chance drawing ticket to try and win one of the two bicycles being given away by the Optimist organization.
All proceeds from this race will benefit The ChadTough Foundation. When you register, you will have an option to include a personal donation for this charity in the "Giving" section (those monies go directly to The ChadTough Foundation.)

PARKING
Public parking along Canal Street, Westward Drive, and Curtiss Parkway (note: angle parking only allowed on Canal Street). If parking on Curtiss Parkway please walk on the median walkway to make your way to the Circle. The BBQ cooks will be starting as early as 7am so many of the closer spots may already be taken but nothing is very far apart in Miami Springs. Do NOT park in the Milam’s grocery store parking lot or you risk having your car towed away at your own expense
