2017 BCS Buffalo Stampede 5K & Half Marathon:

Join us for the 9th Annual BUFFALO STAMPEDE Half Marathon & 5K Races designed for ALL runners! These Chrono timed races use disposable bib tags on USATF Certified courses benefitting the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History. All Sports Timing is conducting the race and race results will be available at www.allsportstiming.com.

These are beautiful courses, well organized safe runs with water stops, porta johns, great running music, cool T-shirts for all, fabulous half-marathon & 5K finisher medals and custom buffalo age group awards, and post-race refreshments. Meet our celebrity starter and look for our Bison mascot! AFTER the race, enjoy Boonville Days, a heritage festival with chuck wagons, booths of frontier skills, art, and music. Festive Boonville Days activities from 9-4 are inside and outside the Museum and free to runners.

RACE START TIMES - Half-Marathon - 7:30 am;  5K - 7:45 am 

Registration & Packet Pick-Up - Runners' packets and late registration will be available on Thursday, October 12th, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday, October 13th, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Museum. Packets may also be picked up on race day beginning at 6:00 am. Race Day registrations will be accepted from 6:00-7:00 am, but prior registration is STRONGLY encouraged. Directions to the Museum are available at: www.brazosvalleymuseum.org. Entry fees are non-refundable; NO exceptions.

Parking - The entrance to the Brazos Center from Briarcrest will be closed. You must enter the Museum's parking lot from the back of the Target shopping center. Follow us on facebook.com/brazosvalleymuseumof naturalhistory or facebook.com/bcsbuffalostampede.

Awards - Overall male and female finishers beautiful unique buffalo sculpture trophies & bison hats. Half marathoners & 5K finishers receive unique finisher medals. First, second, and third place awards are given in each 10-year age group. Age-group awards are buffalo head trophies for first place and custom buffalo medals for second and third places. These awards are real, not plastic!  Age-groups are: 12 and under; 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70+.

Awards Ceremony - 5K Awards will be presented at 9:15 am (sooner if all runners are in). Half Marathon awards will be presented at approximately 10:15 am. 

Cheer Stations - Tell your friends and family that they can create a cheer station to cheer you on the course! There are prizes for the best three stations, selected by an anonymous judge on the course.  $300 for first place, $200 for 2nd place, and $100 for third place.  All entries receive free tshirts, and snacks!  Contact the Museum for more details.  

Photos - Photos on the course, at the finish line, and for awards will be taken by www.SpringActionPhotos.com and may be viewed on their website post race.  

T-Shirts - All registrants will receive a T-shirt, however sizes and availability are guaranteed by race day only for registration made on or before Sept. 21st. You may also purchase a Quick-Dry Tech shirts  for $12 until Sept. 21st.

Weather- Event will be held RAIN or SHINE! If the event is cancelled due to dangerous weather, entry fees will NOT be refunded.

Course Regulations - Strollers are allowed. No skateboards, bicycles, other devices with wheels, or dogs will be allowed on the course with runners.

Course Info

The Half-Marathon course is gently rolling, scenic, relatively flat, fast, and takes you through open country and past neighborhoods and parks. It has a downhill 2-mile finish, and offers you a great chance for a PR and a tune-up for marathons.The 5K follows the first 1.55 miles of the Half-Marathon course. Courses are out and back and offer a safe route well marked by N-Line Traffic Management.  Cheer Stations will be along the route to encourage you...with cash prizes going to the best stations!  The Course closes at 11am.
